Come drift the Upper Kenai with Lakeview Outfitters! Set against the Chugach Mountains, the Upper Kenai River in Cooper Landing is a truly remarkable area filled with epic scenery and great opportunities for the Trout angler. The Upper Kenai also has a healthy population of Dolly Varden, a close relative to Arctic Char. Dolly Varden or "Dollies" have a lot of overlap in their habitat and eating habits with Rainbow Trout. A day of Trout fishing with Lakeview Outfitters usually means you will catch both species.

A VARIETY OF TECHNIQUES

 Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden feed on a variety of food sources, making it possible to employ many different fly fishing techniques to target them. Our favorite way to fish for Trout is with dry flies. There is nothing quite like seeing a huge Trout rise out of the glacial turquoise Kenai River to sip your fly from the surface! Dry fly fishing the Kenai is a great option for first-time anglers. We also very much enjoy swinging streamers, using either single hand, Spey or Skagit casting techniques. Swinging is most enjoyable because it often triggers an aggressive take that you feel. Occasionally we use nymphs, flesh flies and beads, which can be fished with a tight line, high-sticking technique or under and indicator.

 Drift fishing the upper Kenai is great for the experienced and beginning angler alike. We are happy to host anglers of all ages and skill levels! We love introducing new people to the art of fly fishing and if needed, you can count on expert guidance to get you dialed in. Experienced anglers will appreciate pairing their abilities with a skilled rower who can put them on fish.
